František Josef Gerstner
A Pioneer of Science and Technology
A panel exhibition dedicated to František Josef Gerstner, one of the most distinguished figures in the history of science and technology, is on display in our depository. Born in Chomutov, Gerstner was a cartographer, astronomer, engineer, mechanic, and the designer of the first horse-drawn railway. He was also the founder of the Prague Polytechnic, serving as its first director and professor, a pioneer and advocate of steam engines, and a visionary whose influence extended across many other fields of science and technology.
The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Regional Museum in Chomutov
