In Railroad Depository NTM in Chomutov are alocated almost 100 pieces of rolling stock of several gauges and various types. It makes our depository the greatest state colection in the Czech Republic. The depository is located in former Czech Railways depot.
The panel exhibition about František Josef Gerstner, who was an important figure in science and technology, was created thanks to the cooperation with the Regional Museum in Chomutov.
A native of Chomutov, he was a cartographer, astronomer, technician and mechanic, the designer of the first horse-drawn carriages, the founder of the Prague Polytechnic (the precursor of today’s Czech Technical University in Prague ČVUT) and its first director and professor, a pioneer and promoter of steam engines and a visionary in many other fields.
